I bought Dominic's Halloween costume at least two weeks ago, in preparation for his sister arriving and making our lives hectic. (She still has not). Since then, I have never been able to get him to try it on. Emmy, YiaYia and I talked to him about it all day today, explaining that you have to wear a costume if you want the neighbors to give you candy. We offered candy if he would practice trick-or-treating with the costume on, but he refused. I was sure 2012 was going to be the year of no costume, but we were in for a pleasant surprise!

Emmy carved one of the pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. |
After dinner we put the pumpkin outside and waited for trick-or-treaters. |
I was desperate to get some pictures of him by the pumpkin since I didn't think he would wear his costume. |
We let him have a few pieces of candy and then told him he couldn't have any more. |
Next thing I knew, he ran into the house and came out looking like this! Emmy was inside at the time, and said he ran in, grabbed the costume and said "Pumpkin shirt on!" |
So of course we had to give him more candy, after making promises all day. |
He started his bucket with a few pieces from our stash. |
Then Emmy took him to several neighboring houses, where he happily collected more treats. |
He shouted "Candy!" at the prospect of more trick-or-treating, then hit up some more houses with Dada. |
Family pics! |
He quickly ditched the costume and ran inside when I told him no more candy but he could get a drink of milk before bed. |
Looking for more kids before bed. |
And now I need to go to bed, since we are going to the hospital tomorrow to have this baby!
Candy, the best motivator!
